Never had a single thought that I could visit Siargao during our recent vacation in Mindanao, as I wanted to save it for next time and plan to spend for 5days atleast. Due to our limited holiday break from work Jimson and I opted to visit Siargao for one day stay covering only Magpupungko Beach and Sugba Lagoon. (skipping Cloud 9 for surfing activity and Island Hopping for now)

If happens you've been searching on how to go to Siargao Islands via Bus here's how:
1. Check the Bus schedules
2. Took route from your Point of Origin direct to Surigao City or, your Point of Origin via Butuan then to Surigao City. (In our case, point of origin was in Tagum(bus left by 6:00AM - Butuan - Surigao City (arrived at 1:40PM) ).

TIPs: take a NONE-STOP Bachelor Aircon Delux bus or that will take only 10-Terminal Stopover (fare is a bit more expensive than none-aircon bus) which is more convenient to all passenger. Other option, take a Commuter Van way faster than buses but less safer.

Bus Fares: Aircon Delux
Tagum  to Butuan -  410php/per head (Travel Time 5hrs)
Butuan to Surigao - 210php/per head (Travel Time 2hrs 40min)

Its almost 2:00PM when we arrived and decided to have our lunch at one of Eatery in Surigao Bus Terminal. Since we were expecting that we can't catch the ferryboat schedules which will depart only at 5:30AM and 11:00AM from Surigao port to Siargao Dapa port.
We stayed one night at Surigao Tourist Inn in Surigao City, and woke at 4:00AM to catch the earliest ferry from Surigao City to Siargao.

From hotel we rode a tricycle to the port and the driver take us to LQP pump boat bound to Siargao.

LQP schedule
  • Surigao - Dapa Daily 5:30AM
  • Dapa - Surigao Daily 11:00AM
NOTE:
No ticket reservation.
Fare is Php250/head.
Travel Time 2hrs30mins.
If your taking the earliest ferry make sure to be at the port at least 30mins before the departure time as the boat can get full fast especially on holidays and weekends.
Longing a serene and less crowded place in Siargao? This freak'n gorgeous Sugba Lagoon may the perfect place your looking for.

We went straight to Sugba Lagoon after our Magpupungko trip(travel time: approx. 30mins).
Then from Del Carmen town we took a 30mins pump boat ride to reach the lagoon.
Enjoy and explore this beautiful sanctuary on a stand up paddle-board,
go for snorkeling and jump from a platform.

Our cost for Magpupungko and Sugba Lagoon Tour (for 2persons):

  • Habal-habal with driver/day: 1500php(this is good for 3pax)
  • Magpupungko Entrance Fee: 100php/for 2pax
  • Pump-boat to Sugba Lagoon: 1600php/4hrs hours (luckily we meet three foreigners and we split the pump boat cost) 640php/for 2pax.

TIPs: Keep in mind that the boat is good for up to 8 persons, it would be better to go as a group or simply ask with other people you will meet at the peir in Del Carmen to lessen your expense.

  • Tourism Fee: 100php/2pax (Note: tourism fee per head Local: 50php | Foreigner: 100php)
  • Goggles Rental: 300php/for 2pax
  • Paddleboard: 200php
  • Table Rental at Lagoon house: 50php

If you feel hungry during this trip I advise you to bring your own food, as the price will double you the cost when you order from the Lagoon house.

Siargao is one of the beautiful destination in Philippines particularly in Mindanao. Magpupungko is actually a beach and it resembles an infinity pool during the low tide. The place called Magpupungko because of the rocks formation which seems like squatting on a larger one.
These amazing rock formation in the beach is one of major attractions.
Jimson and I were actually enjoying jumping off!
the crystal clear water pool.

#Siargo wouldn’t want to spoil this fun adventure of mine! ❤️ #itsmorefuninthephilippines #magpupungko #magpupungkobeach #mindanao #travel #wanderlust #philippines #beach #pool #travelgram

TIPs: Best to wear beach footwear as the rocks can be sharp and slippery. Entrance Fee: 50php
Make sure to visit this place during low tide, the tide would be at its lowest at 12:00-Noon.
To those who are asking how safe to travel in Siargao, this place is on the northernmost part in Mindanao. According to locals the area has always been safe without any terrorist activities.

So have a great time!!

Unplanned trips made us how to managed the time like what happened about on this trip. I grabbed my boyfriend(Jimson) and rush to go out somewhere. Honestly, as of 11:45AM I had no idea where to go around, but this time Eden suddenly pop-out from my mind. I don't even realize that it will take a long time of travel.

A 95% manmade, Eden is 3,000ft above see level and has fully grown pine trees and forest trees with overlooking view of davao gulf.
How to get here:
From Davao City proper take a jeep going to Toril (with 26 php fare).
Then get down at Toril (Mercury Drug) which is the landmark going to Eden.
From there, take Habal-habal rides costs (150php for 2pax) travel time around 45mins.
Since we arrived 2:00PM and Eden Park will be close at 5:00PM. We only had three hours to spare and trying to maximize our limited time.
Good thing we headed first to the one of their major features rides, to avoid the long queue.

Combo (skycycle + skyrider) for 300php
For Eden entrance fee 220php Day Tour with snacks, or visit their website.
Unexpectedly we didn't know how huge the park was, a bit unfortunate we were not able to take the shuttle tour as there were a lot of things to do.
As the guided shuttle tour was no longer available by 3PM because they have a specific time schedule, so advise to come early (150php for additional shuttle tour). So we only did walking nearly to fishing village, playground, cottages, free indiana jones ride.
Due to restricted time we were not able to pass at the flower garden as it is a long walking distance from the point of entrance.
TIP: be there at 11AM so you can enjoy and explore the other features of the Park.

Shouldn't be missed to see Enchanted River a natural wonder of Surigao Del Sur. Unlike before the place has been well developed now more cottages constructed since it's flocked by vacationers. The Hinatuan Encahanted River is a very deep crystal clear spring river. People wonder how deep the river is and where the water coming from, some says 90ft deep and water come from underground spring of the cave under the mountain which until now is unexplored. At 12:00 noon, people warn to get off the river as it was time for fish feeding which we had no idea about. Suddenly huge fishes came out from nowhere. Fishes disappeared after five minutes feeding time and swimmers could go back to the water.
It gets really crowded by 10AM onwards especially during weekends and holidays so advised to be early.
Entrance fee: Php30.00 per person | Life Jacket Rental: Php15.00 per hour (optional) | Picnic huts and tables: Php100
How to get here:
From MANILA: Take flight to Butuan or Davao City.
From Butuan: Take bus from Butuan Bus Terminal bound to Mangagoy(Bislig City) and get off at Hinatuan Bus Terminal. Fare is 210 pesos and five hours travel time.
From Davao City: Ecoland Terminal Bus take Bachelor bus with signboard Mangagoy (going to Bislig City). Fare 250 pesos with travel time of six hours. Bus schedule, first trip 2:30AM with intervals of 1hour and last trip will be 6:00PM. Then take bus to Hinatuan.
From Hinatuan Bus Terminal take single motorcycle around the area, drivers usually offers one way for 50 pesos per person. Travel time is about 45mins.Spending the rest of the afternoon after visited enchanted river, packed up and we came to see the Majestic Tinuy-an Falls. The waterfall spans 95meters wide and 55 meters high its the widest waterfall in the Philippines. Going here took us 45mins ride (single motorcycle) from Enchanted River.
Feels more magical when we get closer to the falls and when we ride the bamboo rafts the force of the cascading water hitting your back was an awesome feeling. We attempt to climb up that time but the management didn't allow us since the stairways are broken and risky to continue, feels kinda sad.
