ESCAPE TO ARMENIA
T'was Eid celebration in Gulf countries and we decided to flew to Caucasus region of Eurasia for a short holiday. Armenia is located in western asia bordering by Turkey to the west and Georgia to the north. If you want to experience a unique and enchanting European city without applying for Schengen visa then Armenia is for you!
Buildings around the square are all built by tuff of different colors. If you looked from above the oval shaped square with its stone pattern in the center resembles a traditional Armenian rug.
One of the most significant days in Armenia will be on early spring and late fall. Republic Square will be crowded in the evening from 9pm - 11pm to feature the classical music, contemporary jazz, pop and rock.
Cascade Complex
Heading south to see the beauty of this country and our first stop Khor Virap Monastery. From the capital Yerevan it takes 45mins to reach.
The Khor Virap monastery is surrounded by green pasture lands and vineyards with the view of Mount Ararat which in biblical traditions identifies that Noah's Ark rested on after the flood.
Armenia was the first country in the world to be declared a Christian nation and Khor Virap is one of the most visited pilgrimage site in Armenia.
Going forward we just realized that we're going for monastery hunting on this trip. Thousands of visitors are coming here normally not just because of its history and architecture.People want to know how they still preserved the pace and traditions after a period of one hundred years.
From Khor Virap to Noravank takes one hour of travel using private vehicle and Noravank to Tatev Monastery will be two hours and forty five minutes long way drive.
Another beautiful scenery to be found the Tatev Monastery, it was built in 9th century. From Noravank to Tatev takes 4hours drive. Then, take ride the longest aerial tramway called "Wings of Tatev" seeing worth various wonderful sights.
Geghard monastery is listed as one of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex of medieval building is set into a landscape of great natural beauty, surrounded by towering cliff at the entrance tothe Azat Valley high cliffs from the northern side.
Garni built in first century the structure and symbol represent of pre-Christian Armenia and follows the style of classical Ancient Greek architecture.
To sum up with, the highlight on this trip was that when we where in monastery solemnly praying and blessed by Father Michael Gevorgyan, his one of the Orthodox Priest at the 9th century Tatev Monastery. Honestly Jimson and I got goosebumps and un-explainable feeling during when we're in Tatev. It was one of a kind well treasured experience.

Home of rugged mountains, extinct volcanoes and misty valleys, Armenia lies in the middle of the Caucasus, landlocked between Turkey, Georgia, Iran and Azerbaijan. Its jagged landscape covered with dense forest and medieval monasteries perched atop cloudy cliffs give it a charm that can only be described as epic.
