Part of exploring Arab countries is to visit the traditional souk market, Souks consist a variety of gold, spices, carpets, textiles, perfumes and food markets. But in Dubai when we say the term souk people seem to think more about Gold souk.
Gold Souk is occupying a large area in souk market located in Deira and, it has more than 300 jewellery stores. WOW can you imagine the vast amount of golden jewellery?
This one of a kind market place the majority of visitors are just walking around looking at the fascinating shop window displays.
Most of the shops are also offer platinum, diamonds and silver. The government keeps tight control over the quality of all the merchandise and rest assured that what ever you had purchases from here are genuine.
TIPs: beware some of the street vendors outside hawking "genuine fake" watches and handbags.
This place is worth to visit even if you have no intention of buying, just enjoy the atmosphere of shop  windows glinting with 18, 21, 22 and 24 carat of gold. By the way, gold prices here are among the lowest in the world and are largely determined by the weight, depending also on whether it is machine made of by a craftsman.
